How many Herd Management Ear Tags does an average farmer use in a year?
Cows are sold, culled, die.
Tags are cut, buried, dumped, as each cow departs, and replacement tags purchased annually to identify incoming heifers and purchases.
There are also a number of tags which are simply torn out of ears while itching on gateposts or leaning through fences.
With the tagsaver these tags can be collected, opened and reused, rather than becoming more plastic thrown into landfill. Reusing tags reduces the need to purchase replacements.
Within New Zealand: When shipping the product to you it is packaged in reused cardboard, and shipped to you via CourierPost. The CourierPost packaging currently being used is made from type 4 recycled plastic. These can be recycled by some local councils or by Soft plastic recycling. Their recycling drop-off points are here.
International shipments: All efforts are made to use reduce waste and use recyclable packaging.
The tagsaver is made of Aluminium and Stainless Steel. Whilst we don't expect it to happen for a very long time... when the tool can no longer remove ear tags these metal components can be melted down and recycled into something else.
